Written for the 30th class reunion of Mesa High School, Mesa AZ

Today I rolled down a yester-road
I heard some songs we played on the radio
I saw some high-school friends and made a few amends
And I lived a few old memories again
Such a part of me has changed
But I still remember
And my heart remains the same

I go… back to that old study hall
Just passin’ notes around
Football games and cruising main
All the old familiar sounds
The hairdo’s and the sideburns
I guess they are long gone
But I still know the words to our school song
Carry On

I’ve come a long, long way to be here today
And if I must explain, I think I’d have to say
It’s been a joyful ride, even as I cried
When I learned a few of the best of us had died
So the days are marching on
But we still remember
When we hear that certain song

And it takes us… back to that old study hall
Just passin’ notes around
Football games and cruising main
All the old familiar sounds
The hairdo’s and the sideburns
I guess they are long gone
But I still know the words to our school song
Carry On

Back to all my best friends
Back to re-live every chapter once again

Let’s go back to that old study hall
Just passin’ notes around
Football games and cruising main
All the old familiar sounds
The hairdo’s and the sideburns
I guess they are long gone
But I still know the words to our school song
Carry On
